In 1999, Rene Foreman was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. She underwent surgery that saved her life; it also took her voice box. To speak, Rene now uses an electrolarynx â€” a small device that she holds against her throat to produce her voice, electronically.
Discussing how having a synthesized voice has changed her life, Rene, 70, told her daughter Michelle that the electrolarynx helps her to enjoy each day, even if it also makes her stand out in some ways.
Of those times, Michelle asks, "How do you feel when people turn around and look at you?"

A legislative committeeÂ has high hopes for the University of Wyomingâ€™s proposed natural gas pump station.
U-W President Tom Buchanan asked the Joint Appropriations Committee for $1 million dollars to convert several university vehicles to run on natural gas, and to build a natural gas filling station in Laramie. He said the station would be open to university and state vehicles but not to the public.â€¨
Wyomingâ€™s ski resorts are benefitting from the lack of snow elsewhere in the country.
Â Â Some areas in the Tetons have gotten more than 12 feet of snow so far this season, and both major resorts near Jackson say theyâ€™re getting visitors who would normally have gone to resorts in other states.
Â Â Grand Targhee Resort has been honoring season passes from other ski areas, provided visitors stay at least two nights. And Jackson Hole Mountain Resort says skiers who had planned to vacation in Colorado or Utah are changing plans last minute and coming to Wyoming.
