Lander, Wy – Officials from the Fremont County Weed and Pest District have delivered a request to the governor and the U-S Department of Agriculture seeking a disaster declaration. The declaration comes after widespread grasshopper devastation across the county this summer. There have been grasshopper outbreaks in parts of Wyoming this year, but what makes Fremont County's situation different is the grasshoppers are in croplands, as opposed to rangeland, and there are multiple species hatching.

Cheyenne, Wy – Wyoming and nine other states have filed a gay marriage opposition brief to a federal appeals court in California. The amicus brief sent Friday to the 9th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals says that the Constitution does not require marriage to include same-sex couples. It also says that states, not federal courts, have final say in whether to allow same-sex marriages. LARAMIE, wyo – If the Wyoming Cowboys are going to win Saturday they will need to find a way to stop Air Force Quarterback Tim Jefferson. Jefferson has been tremendous this year scoring four touchdowns and throwing for three more. He is a big reason Air Force is much improved this season. Wyoming Coach Dave Christensen says Jefferson has been a handful.
LARAMIE, wyo – Motorcycle fatalities are up significantly this year in Wyoming. Twenty-three riders have died this year, nearly doubling the numbers from last year. Alcohol use and excessive speed are suspected to be causes for many of the deaths. Dave Kingham is the Spokesperson for the Wyoming Department of Transportation. He says there's been an increase in motorcycle riders in the state over the last few years.
LARAMIE, wyo – The Wyoming Safe Kids Coordinator says the state has been at the forefront of vehicular child safety laws nationwide, but Diane Guerttman also says that there are still many people that don't know that children need to use proper seats until they are nine years old. This led to the new Boost Til Nine Campaign. Guerttman says it will help inform parents about proper booster seat use.
