Cowboys Vs Boise State

Laramie, WY – The Wyoming Cowboys host their biggest game of the year this weekend when the Pokes face third ranked Boise State. The Broncos feature a high powered offense but Wyoming Coach Dave Christensen says he is equally worried about Boise State's defense .

"I mean I watched video on them today. Their defense is very good. They are fast, they are very sound in what they do, they don't get out of position and are very aggressive."

Buchanan Gets Contract Renewed

Laramie, WY – On the same week University of Wyoming President Tom Buchanan announced the school would not create a policy to screen controversial speakers the U-W Board of Trustees extended Buchanan's contract by two years. This means he would serve until at least 2014. The extension does not include a raise, but Buchanan says he did not want one.

Fremont Co. will seek hopper disaster help

Riverton, Wyo – The Fremont County Commission says grasshoppers are devastating alfalfa and other grass crops in the county. So much so they say that a disaster declaration is warranted.

The commission has asked the Farm Service Agency to prepare a request seeking a disaster declaration due to the grasshopper infestation.

Vast areas of Fremont County extending from Riverton south through the Wind River Indian Reservation and beyond Lander are infested.

BLM to review plans for 2 Adobe Town area wells

Cheyenne, WY – The U.S. Bureau of Land Management has halted plans for two exploratory gas wells, and roads to reach them, in the Adobe Town area in southwest Wyoming.

The BLM says it will review whether "wilderness characteristics" exist that could put the area off-limits to development. Much of the area has been proposed for protection as designated wilderness.

The BLM approved the drilling and road plans by Tulsa, Okla.-based Samson Resources Co., earlier this year.

Bear cub struck, killed by car in Teton Park

GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK, Wyo – Grand Teton National Park officials say a female black bear cub has been hit and killed by a car.

Park officials say the cub was killed Wednesday night when it was following its mother and a sibling across the road. They say the driver, a Moran resident, told a ranger he swerved to avoid the bears but struck the last one.

Officials say the driver called in the incident and waited for the ranger to arrive.
