Blankenship lists a variety of problems for quitting

Riverton, Wy – Former State Superintendent Trent Blankenship blames financial woes,
problems with his staff and poor political advice for problems he had when he
resigned his post in 2005.
Blankenship was elected superintendent of public instruction in
2002 but resigned with 16 months left in his term. He left
after an audit revealed improprieties in the agency's spending.
Blankenship's term was also marred by disputes with Gov. Dave
Freudenthal.
Blankenship is now running for the same office in next month's

Searchers recover body of Grand Teton climber

Grand Teton National Park, Wyo. – Authorities plan to analyze the harness and rope used by a climber who died after falling about 2,000 feet from a cliff during a thunderstorm in Grand Teton National Park.

Searchers found the body of 21-year-old Brandon Oldenkamp, of Sanborn, Iowa on Thursday. His body has been taken to the Teton County coroner.

Oldenkamp was a student at Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, where he would have been a senior this fall.

Man dead in oil field accident near Lusk

Lusk, Wyo. – State inspectors are investigating the death of a man in an oil rig accident in eastern Wyoming.

Boyd Bannan died following the accident. It happened Wednesday around 7 p.m. in an oil field about 40 miles north of Lusk.

Representatives of Wyoming's Occupational Safety and Health Administration were at the scene on Thursday.
