Paul Hickey announces he won't run for governor

Cheyenne, Wyo. – Cheyenne lawyer Paul Hickey says he won't seek the Democratic Party nomination to run for governor of Wyoming.

No Democrat has stepped forward since Gov. Dave Freudenthal announced early this month that he wouldn't try for a third term.

Hickey is the son of the late J.J. "Joe" Hickey, who was elected governor in 1958. Paul Hickey lost the 2002 gubernatorial primary to Freudenthal.

Cleanup underway after I-80 crash

Laramie, Wyo. – A pileup that began this morning when a tractor trailer jackknifed around 9 a.m. closed I-80 in southwestern Wyoming for much of the day. Lieutenant Troy McLees with the Wyoming Highway Patrol says as many as 40 vehicles were involved and between 50 and 100 were backed up near the scene. One person died in the crash, near Wamsutter, and at least five others have been hospitalized.

Wyoming gets scores from national reading test

Laramie, Wyo. – Wyoming's results from a national reading assessment are out today. The assessment, known as "NAEP," is required by No Child Left Behind. This year, Wyoming eighth-graders performed essentially as well as they did in 2007. Wyoming fourth-graders' scores dropped slightly.
