Rawlins, WY – Residents of Carbon County have formed an informal committee, called Carbon County for Five. The group's aim is to increase the number of County Commissioners from three to five. Rawlins resident and member of the committee Don Cuin says the problem with three commissioners is that for big decisions often only two of the three commissioners decide what happens to millions of dollars.
Laramie, WY – In sports, the Cowboys basketball team's season is over. UW lost to Air Force today at the Mountain West Conference tournament in Las Vegas. The score was 59 to 40. This marks the fewest wins for a Cowboys team since the 1975/76 season.
However the Cowgirls won their game yesterday to advance to the quarterfinals. They play against San Deigo State tonight at eight o'clock.
Cheyenne, WY – The Wyoming Department of Employment says the state unemployment rate rose very slightly from December to January. Economist David Bullard says Wyoming is still losing jobs, but not as quickly as it was at other points in the past year: "Unemployment continues to edge up - up to 7.6% in January - but the job losses seem to be slowing."
