Laramie, WY – Teton County had the highest per-capita income in the U.S. in 2007, at roughly 130 thousand dollars, according to recently released federal data. Jonathan Schechter of the Jackson-based Charture Institute says that most of that wealth isn't actually earned in the county. "Even though we traditionally think of people earning their money in the community in which they live," he said, "to a larger and larger extent that's simply not the case."
