Candidate Hunkins Supports Med School Study

Laramie, Wy – The Republican candidate for governor Ray Hunkins says it is time for the state to again look at building a medical school. In fact he says if elected he will commission a study to consider a Regional Health Training Center, which would include a medical school, but it would be more than that, it could also train other health care professionals.
Hunkins says the study would take a year and cost about 100 thousand dollars. He notes a study that shows Wyoming will need an extra 50 family practice doctors and he wonders if Governor Freudenthal has a plan.

Rate Reduction for Questar Customers?

Laramie, Wy – Questar Gas has asked the state Public Service Commission for a four million dollar reduction in natural gas rates for customers.
If approved, the rate cut would lower the typical homeowner's annual bill for natural gas by 118 dollars, beginning November first.
The company cited lower natural gas prices brought on by adequate inventory of natural gas storage for the winter and restoration of near normal gas production in the Gulf of Mexico.
Earlier this year, Questar Gas had two rate decreases in Wyoming.

Hawk Springs Case Takes Unexpected Turn

Laramie, Wy – A judge recently ordered that the Hawk Springs Reservoir remain open for public use until a law suit over its ownership can be settled. The sale of those 40 acres from the Horse Creek Conservation District to a private company caught the attention of Wyoming Attorney General Pat Crank. Then Wyoming Public Radio learned more about the attorney who represented both seller and buyer in the transaction.
