Klara is currently a senior majoring in Criminal Justice and minoring in Sociology and Professional Writing. She also works in the clothing department at Murdoch’s and is taking summer classes to finish her degree. She enjoys spending time with her friends and family and plans to move back to Albuquerque, NM after graduating at the end of the summer.

Pharmaceuticals and biosciences company MilliporeSigma is stopping in Laramie this week to showcase its “Curiosity Cube.” What used to be a 22 by 10-foot shipping container is now a mobile science lab with interactive experiments. The Curiosity Cube allows kids to experience different technologies like high-tech microscopes, virtual reality, and 3D printers. 

A fund devoted to finding a cure for dementia brought in $75 million. The American Association of Retired Persons started the campaign “Disrupt Dementia” on June 25 to bring more attention to the illness, which does not have a cure.

Wyoming has the third highest gun suicide rate in the nation. The Violence Policy Center recently analyzed data collected from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and found that there is a correlation between gun ownership and suicide by gun.

Laramie is working towards becoming the fourth community in Wyoming to gain “age-friendly” status, especially for older people. This week the second session of the AARP Age-Friendly Laramie Initiative was held at the Lincoln Community Center on May 31. 

Wyoming Pathways

The 2018 Wyoming Bike Walk Trails Summit convened Monday to help build momentum for the improvement of bicycling and pedestrian trail systems across the state. The event featuring speakers from varying communities around Wyoming was held at Snow King Resort in Jackson.
