Air Force Retires Peacekeeper Missile

Laramie, Wy – For nearly 20 years Wyoming was home to the world's most powerful nuclear missile. But, at a ceremony Monday the Air Force retired the Peacekeeper. Ronald Reagan named the missile that could carry 10 nuclear warheads at once and said it was important for a country defending liberty to be strong.
The Air Force started dismantling the 50 Peacekeepers three years ago. There is still work to be done cleaning the silos and F-E Warren continues to be in charge of 150 Minutemen-Three nuclear missiles. No one will lose their job because of this change, but some are moving to Air Force bases in other parts of the country.
