Anadarko pulls back on Wyoming drilling

Cheyenne, WY –
Anadarko Petroleum has reduced its drilling operations in Wyoming but has not cut its work force or shut in any wells.

Anadarko spokesman John Christiansen says the company has cut its budget and will be less active in Wyoming and elsewhere this year.

The Woodlands, Texas-based company has about 750 employees in Wyoming working at both natural gas and oil operations. Christiansen says the company is retaining its current work force for when prices rebound and activity picks up again.

Anadarko has invested heavily in Wyoming in recent years. It revived two old oil fields by pumping carbon dioxide underground and ramped up natural gas production.
