Art Is Popping Up In Laramie This Weekend

laramiemainstreet.org

Artists are invading downtown Laramie this weekend. Local artists of all kinds will “pop up” in local businesses and on the streets for the Laramie Pop-Up Artwalk.

It’s a creation of the Wyoming Art Party, the Wyoming Arts Council, and the Downtown Laramie Business Alliance. 26 artists, including street performers and buskers, are scheduled. Local artist Adrienne Vetter has extended an invitation for any artist who would like to join at the event.

“There will be just last minute spontaneous actions that could be something like bringing your art down in a suitcase and opening it up and sharing it with the community,” said Vetter. She expects the art walk to transform downtown into a much-needed space for the creative community in Laramie.

“It’s not just an art walk. It’s trying to mix together people who might not normally be seen together- you know, the buskers, craftspeople as well as established fine artists.”

A map of businesses participating in the Pop-Up Artwalk is available on the event’s Facebook page. The art walk will run from 5 to 9 pm on Friday, September 18 and from 11 am to 3 pm on Saturday, September 19.
