Attorney General's Opinion Helps Ease Tension
Casper, Wy – The state board of education and the Superintendent of Public Instruction have gone through a period of some tension. In an effort to get some clarity about their respective roles the board asked the Attorney General to weigh in. Chief Deputy Attorney General, Mike O'donnell issued an opinion yesterday. He compares the situation to a corporation with the board coming up with policy and the superintendent acting as the CEO.
The tension between the board and the superintendent involved the development of graduation requirements by local school districts. O'donnell says tension between the two entities is inherent.
