Laramie, Wy – Wildlife managers are advising outdoor enthusiasts to keep an eye on their dogs this summer in Idaho's Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness.
That's because someone has been trying to kill gray wolves with poisoned meat in the central Idaho backcountry.
Besides killing one wolf last month, the bait laced with a pesticide also made several dogs sick in recreation areas on the Salmon-Challis National Forest.
Officials say they don't have any suspects and don't know how widely the poisoned baits are spread. Last year someone put out poison around Jackson Hole killing several dogs.
