Bairoil residents concerned about post office

Bairoil, WY – Community leaders in Bairoil and many of its 106 residents are opposing plans by the U.S. Postal Service to close the small town's post office.
Bairoil is located in the northeast corner of Sweetwater County.
It is 45 miles away from the next-closest post office in Rawlins.
Bairoil Mayor Doug Reaser says some ranchers who use the Bairoil
Post Office are up to 90 miles away from Rawlins.
The Rock Springs Rocket-Miner reports that the Postal Service is
proposing to replace the town's post office with a contract driver
to maintain mail delivery and other services. It would save about
$27,000 a year by closing the post office.
Bairoil officials said the closing would impact a community that
already has limited communications with the rest of the state and
country.
