Laramie, WY – Bird lovers from around the world are meeting at the University of Wyoming this week. It's the first time that the American Ornithologists' Union is meeting in Wyoming in the group's 124-year history. UW Zoology professor Craig Benkman organized the conference. He says he hopes it puts the university on the map in his field.
"What's really nice is that we can showcase what we have here and what we're doing here. We have a fabulous program in ecology that's growing in the department of zoology," he said.
Topics at the conference range from West Nile infection in Sage Grouse to the effects of a recent tsunami on birds in the Solomon Islands.
