Laramie, WY – The Bureau of Land management has released its final environmental impact statement on a major gas drilling project in Carbon County. It mostly involves coalbed methane development in the Atlantic Rim area. Opponents had asked that new technology and a cautious approach be used in the area, because of sensitive wildlife. Biodiversity Conservation Alliance Director Eric Molvar charges that such advice was overlooked. He says the proposed development features too many roads and is too large. BLM Project Manager David Simons was unavailable for comment. The public can comment on the final EIS until January 4th.
