BLM issues latest plan for Pinedale Anticline
By Peter O'Dowd and wire reports
Laramie, Wyo. – Land advocates say the latest plan from the Bureau of Land Management for the Pinedale Anticline will only make the area's pollution worse.
The BLM is recommending that companies be allowed to drill about 44-hundred new natural gas wells in the Pinedale Anticline. The Upper Green River Valley Coalition's Linda Baker opposes the plan. She says ozone levels are alread at record levels and this plan will make them worse.
The plan also includes a provision that would force companies to use any means necessary to lower pollution. But Baker says the restrictions are not broad enough.
About 1-thousand wells have already been drilled into the Anticline, a geographical formation an hour south of Jackson.
The plan is subject to a 30-day public review before a final decision is issued.
