BLM Studies Oil and Gas And Finds Problems
Laramie, Wy – The Bureau of Land Management has released a study looking at how much oil and gas is accessible under current laws. The research covered 99 million acres of federal land, which is about 15 percent of all federal land.
What the B-L-M found is that most of the oil and gas are not accessible by law or there are restrictions on drilling. The director of the B-L-M, Kathleen Clarke, denies that it is a politically motivated study. It's unknown exactly how much oil and natural gas is closed to drilling in Wyoming because the BLM did not look at the resources by state. But, in the Rocky Mountains generally most natural gas is accessible, though usually with some restrictions.
