BLM Will Use State Plan To Protect Sage Grouse

Gillette, Wy – The Governor got some good news from the Bureau of Land Management. In a
letter, the B-L-M told the Governor that it will focus its efforts to protect sage grouse on between 200-thousand and 400-thousand acres of critical habitat the state has identified in the Powder River
Basin.
Freudenthal says that Wyoming has robust populations of sage
grouse that live on the same land that holds world-class energy
deposits. He says the state needs to protect the birds while
helping to meet the nation's energy needs.
