Boys and Girls' Clubs get federal money
Laramie, WY – Governor Dave Freudenthal has committed up to $1.3 million dollars in federal funds for maintenance and repairs on Boys and Girls Clubs around Wyoming.
Freudenthal says the federal funding will also allow the purchase of equipment at the clubs.
Freudenthal says Boys and Girls Clubs can have trouble raising money for the their infrastructure needs. He says it's important for the state to dedicate the remaining federal economic stimulus money to help them.
The $1.3 million is the remaining balance of funds that had been used to construct juvenile detention centers in Wyoming.
Jack Tarter is president of the Wyoming Alliance of Boys and Girls Clubs. He says he's excited about the money and says it will allow more teens to become involved.
