Broadcast Icon Dies at 90

Laramie, WY – The long time voice of the Cowboys, Larry Birleffi, died over the weekend. He was 90.

For over 50 years, Birleffi covered the Cowboys as a broadcaster and as a newspaper writer. Former University of Wyoming Athletic Director and Football coach Paul Roach says that Birleffi was the voice of the fan.

Birleffi was a native of Hartville and is a member of U-W's sports hall of fame, the Wyoming sports hall of fame and the Wyoming Broadcasters Hall of Fame. In 1992, the Press Box at War Memorial stadium was named in his honor.
