Douglas, Wy – Cody and Greybull are in line to be the first recipients of money from Governor Freudenthal's centerpiece economic development program. The Wyoming Business Council Board of Directors approved grants for the two Thursday from the Business Ready Community Program. Steve Achter is the Business Council's point-man for this program. While speaking to the Board, Achter said he thinks the state's embarking on something historic. The State Land and Investment Board still needs to sign off on the grants. Cody would receive $200,000 dollars to build infrastructure that will help Fremont Motors expand and add over 20 jobs, according to the company. The Greybull project would get $1.5 million, so an aircraft hangar can be built, allowing Hawkins and Powers Aviation to expand. The company says their effort will create 100 jobs. These projects fall under the Business Committed heading, funds to help existing businesses. In June, the Business Council Board will review Community Readiness funding proposals, those for projects to help towns attract businesses.
