Cheyenne, Wyo – The U.S. Air Force is making more use of the Camp Guernsey military training site in southeast Wyoming.
The F.E. Warren Air Force Base's 90th Ground Combat Training Squadron's Camp Guernsey training site has been designated a regional training center for airmen worldwide.
The designation is part of an effort to better prepare deploying airmen for combat.
The camp will be designated a regional pre-deployment training center under an agreement with the Wyoming National Guard. A number of similar sites nationwide have also been designated as regional pre-deployment training centers.
Almost 100 airmen from 29 bases started training at the newly-designated center this week. The 66,000-acre site will be used to test the airmen in convoy safety, forward operating base protection and possible combat scenarios.
