Laramie, Wy – A Campbell County jury Friday found a Gillette man guilty of charges of murder and conspiracy. The case started after the death of a teenager who was strangled and dumped by the side of an interstate highway last year.
The jury found Kent Alan Proffit Senior guilty of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder in the death of 19-year-old Jeremy Forquer in Gillette last year.
Proffit showed little emotion at the verdict. He said he was shocked at the verdict.
Proffit also is scheduled to stand trial early next year on a charge of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder in death of 16-year-old Bryce Chavers.
Chavers had been scheduled to testify against Proffit in a sexual abuse case. Chavers was found shot to death in his house in Gillette last year.
