Casper patients need help

Casper, Wy – More patients of Wyoming Medical Center are taking advantage of the Casper hospital's charity care program. The hospital's chief financial officer, Nancy Brandt, told the board of trustees on Tuesday that the hospital forgives the debts
of patients who qualify for charity care.
Brandt says patients who are not qualified for charity care and
do not pay for their hospitalization will be subject to debt
collection agencies. The hospital counts those losses as bad debt.
Brandt says the hospital recorded $17.2 million in charity care
and bad debt from July through October. That is an increase from
the $13.2 million in uncompensated care during the same time in
2008.
