Cheyenne, WY – The city of Cheyenne is updating zoning codes and subdivision regulations, and this week, residents will have a chance to learn how rezoning will shape new development.
It's part of Plan Cheyenne, a multi-year project that uses input from residents to direct the city's growth.
Cheyenne Director of Urban Planning, Matt Ashby, says says one goal of the plan is to make sure old zoning laws don't get in the way of positive development. He says they want to make Cheyenne attractive, with walk-able areas and low traffic density, because Cheyenne and Laramie are the next stops on the development boom stretching up the Front Range from Denver. He says, "In order to make sure that Cheyenne doesn't lose what its greatest qualities are, we need to be very careful as we grow in the future."
The public meetings are this week at the Union Pacific Depot Lobby in Downtown Cheyenne.
