Cheyenne, WY – Following several amendments and a reduction of funding a quality child care bill barely passed the Wyoming Senate Wednesday. The bill was intended to try and improve child care services in the state, but opponents thought government was treading where it did not belong. On the final day of debate in the Senate .the funding was cut from 14 million down to a million dollars. That and other changes frustrated Senator Mike Massie, who says the bill was gutted. Massie does not understand the opposition to early childhood programs in the State. The bill was targeted by First Lady Nancy Freudenthal as one of the key issues of the legislative session.
