Rock Springs, WY – Sweetwater County United Way wants to learn just how strong the area's demand for child care is. United Way is paying for a survey of local employers and families. The organization hopes to uncover some potential solutions to what is being described as a child care shortage. Amanda Rosenberg is the Executive Director for Sweetwater County United Way. She says they know there is a child care shortage, but are not sure of the scope of the problem. To find that out, United Way has contracted a study from the University of Wyoming's Survey and Analysis Center. Rosenberg says they've heard from employers that the lack of child care is costing them workers. With a worker shortage also in the area, Rosenberg says that makes finding solutions even more important.
