Laramie, WY – Nationally about 30 percent of children with asthma are getting flu shots. The Centers for Disease Control found this result in a study and is concerned because they want all young asthmatics to get vaccinated. The CDC says that's because these children are at increased risk of complications from the flu. The state epidemiologist, Dr. Tracy Murphy says the figures for Wyoming are probably similar to that national numbers, but he doesn't know why. Murphy says they may need to do more education about the importance of flu shots for physicians and parents of asthmatics.
