Children's Insurance Bill Dies in Wyoming House

Cheyenne, WY –
A bill that would have expanded the State Children's Health insurance program has been defeated by the Wyoming House of Representatives. Majority Floor Leader Ed Buchanan was among those who opposed making health insurance available to more people. He says this extends the program to people who should be able to afford health insurance on their own.
The bill would have raised the eligibility ceiling from 200 to 300 percent of poverty. Lingle Representative Matt Teeters called it a giveaway, but Laramie Democrat Cathy Connelly says it is a program that has worked in Wyoming.
