Laramie, WY – Governor Dave Freudenthal says he met with officials from coal companies this week and got some bad news. He says he found out that coal has piled up at power plants around the country, and that the inventory of coal is larger than it's been in at least five years. That may mean a slowdown in production is coming.
Freudenthal attributes the backlog of coal to the economic crisis. He says while mining may slow, the price of coal is not likely to drop significantly.
