College Textbook Prices Up Substantially
Laramie, WY – The price of textbooks for college students has gone up 40 percent over the past four years. It has prompted students to look for copies of the books from overseas via the Internet. Some have even made the decision to try to go without some books. University of Wyoming Bookstore Manager Peggy Falgien admits it's a problem. But Falgien says bookstores across the country are not to blame. Falgien is President of the National Association of College Stores. She says she and her national organization will be meeting with book publishers this fall in New York to try to bring down those costs. In the meantime, Falgien has asked faculty to make sure all they books they order are neede4d and to try to get used textbooks. She also suggests students share the more expensive textbooks.
