Laramie, Wy – The Children and Families Initiative is planning on asking lawmakers to get communities in on fixing problems in their own communities. The group is drafting a report on the status of families and children in the state and will suggest specific legislation in October. Department of Family Services Director Roger McDaniel says one recommendation will be to set up a way that communities can address their own problems, because communities know what they need more then the state does. He says for that to work, communities will also need flexibility. McDaniel says it will be one of a series of proposals that should help improve the landscape for many families who are struggling in the state.
