Cheyenne, Wy – The cuts to Wyoming's budget last month did NOT affect coverage for kids in Wyoming's Children's Health Insurance Program. Apparently there was some confusion about this among families and health care providers. The manager of the program, Patty Guzman, says the cuts did put a cap on the total number of kids eligible as of July first, but that's the only change.
"It was right before July first that providers were telling families to come in and get their services before July first. So, then what we did was we heard from these families who called concerned, we asked who their providers were and we called the office to let them know, but we didn't hear of any families being refused services."
Guzman says there is a change coming up. Starting on October first families with multiple children will have to pay a larger share to get insurance from the state.
