Conservation Group Pleased with Parts of Senate Energy Plan
Laramie, Wy – The U-S Senate passed a comprehensive energy bill today. It contains 18 billion dollars in tax breaks, including some for oil producers in Wyoming. The bill passed the Senate with strong support from both Democrats and Republicans. It also has the support of Wyoming's Biodiversity Conservation Alliance. Wildlife Biologist, Erik Molvar, says he's pleased to see funding for researching renewable energy because the time to start developing those technologies is now.
Molvar says he is disappointed there were not any incentives or regulations to decrease the impact of oil and gas drilling, using techniques like directional drilling.
The U-S House already passed an energy bill and now lawmakers have to work out the differences between the two versions.
