Laramie, Wy – Construction is booming on the University of Wyoming campus in Laramie.
More than a dozen projects are under way or are planned, thanks largely to state budget surpluses that are a result of Wyoming's energy boom.
This year alone, U-W officials expect to spend 100 million dollars renovating or building 500-thousand square feet of space.
That includes work on facilities for the anthropology program and renovations and expansions at the classroom building. Other projects will include improvements at the College of Business, residence halls and War Memorial Stadium.
The campus hasn't seen so much construction since Wyoming's last energy boom in the 1970s.
U-W officials say many of the current projects had lingered in the planning stages for years.
