Consumer Advocate Favors Cheyenne Light Buyout

Cheyenne, WY – Wyoming's consumer advocate is endorsing the buyout of Cheyenne Light by Black Hills Corporation. X-Cel Energy is proposing to sell the Cheyenne utility to Black Hills. A hearing on the issue was held by the Wyoming Public Service Commission Tuesday. Consumer Advocate Bryce Freeman says the sale should benefit Cheyenne customers. Freeman says Black Hills is a well run company that invests in low cost energy generation resources. He says the result should be Cheyenne customers seeing lower power costs. Part of the deal would hold down price increases. Federal officials still have to approve that buyout.
