Laramie, WY – The Wyoming Department of Health has a $45,000 sponsorship deal this year with Cheyenne Frontier Days. More than half the money comes from settlement funds with the tobacco industry earmarked for health care and tobacco control.
The contract buys the agency rodeo advertising space and other exposure for its campaign to stop tobacco use.
The agreement also includes thousands of dollars worth of perks for Health Department employees - 90 concert tickets, 12 daily sponsor badges and some drink tickets.
The Department plans to hand out the tickets and other benefits to its employees who staff the agency's anti-tobacco booth at this year's Cheyenne Frontier Days. Director Dr. Brent Sherard says it's appropriate to reward employees for their extra work.
