Devils Tower Has A New Superintendent

A 27 year veteran of the National Park Service has been selected to be the new Superintendent of Devils Tower National Monument. Tim Reid has spent the last six years working as the Chief Ranger at Yellowstone National Park.

Reid is known as someone who provides a balance of resource protection, while providing an excellent visitor experience. He says the key is communication with stakeholders.

“Notwithstanding that I am responsible for signing on the dotted line and holding the bag on management issues, there is a critical need, an essential need for collaboration and input…and communication.”

Reid says he was at the point in his career where it made sense to become a Superintendent. He says he is excited about the opportunity.

“I do like the Black Hills pantheon if you will…it was one reason to apply for this position when it became vacant, working in service and trust of the public is a big honor and I look forward to working with the staff in advancing issues and stewardship of Devils Tower.”

Reid will take time to educate himself on some issues specific to Devils Tower from climbing to funding issues.
