Douglas administrator fired

Douglas, Wy – The Douglas City Council fired the town's longtime city administrator and the mayor resigned during the same tumultuous meeting.
The council voted 3-2 Monday night to fire City Administrator
Bobbe Fitzhugh. After the vote, Mayor Jim Schneider resigned his
post citing an ability to work with the city's governing body.
Council President Marilyn Werner, who voted against Fitzhugh's
firing along with Schneider, is serving as Douglas' interim mayor.
Werner says Fitzhugh's firing resulted from a dispute over
employees' salaries as the city considers its future budget and
financial constraints related to the recession.
Douglas has about 6,000 residents and the city government
employs about 70 people.
