Douglas Man's Protest Met with Resistance

Douglas, Wy – A Douglas man's observance of American troops is causing some angry reactions from the town's residents. Sissy Goodwin of Veterans for Peace says he came up with the idea for the Black Ribbon campaign to honor the nation's soldiers while voicing opposition to President Bush's foreign policy. He says the campaign has been met by angry residents who say you can't express both sentiments at the same time. Goodwin says the furor is due to Douglas area school children tying yellow ribbons around the community in support of the troops. He says some people have torn down the black ribbons saying the ribbons are in opposition to the yellow ribbon campaign. Goodwin believes there is room for both expressions in Douglas.
