Drilling Should Be Slowed
Pinedale, Wy – Saying that operators need to use the best management practices that they can, several environmental groups have written the Bureau of Land Management asking that drilling in the Jonah gas Field in western Wyoming be slowed. The groups want the B-L-M to slow the pace, so that effects on wildlife, air quality and people can be more easily managed. Linda Baker of the Upper Green Valley Coalition worries that too much production could cause problems. However, Baker thinks many of the companies in Jonah have recognized that responsibility and are doing a better job. Encana Oil and Gas Spokeswoman Florence Murphy notes that environmental studies have been done before each step has been taken.
