Laramie, WY – An energy expert says Wyoming is leading other western states in efforts to improve power lines and natural gas pipelines. Tom Petrie is a vice president of Merrill Lynch and Company. He says Wyoming's work to improve power lines and pipelines is important. That work together with the recent creation of School of Energy Resources at the University of Wyoming indicates that the state is undergoing an economic evolution.
Petrie addressed the Wyoming Business Alliance/Wyoming Heritage Foundation in Casper yesterday. Petrie says Wyoming is preparing to add value to its resources. And he says it's doing so because the world is demanding more and cleaner energy. Wyoming is in a strong position because it has an immediate domestic supply of natural gas. Petrie says it's ahead of Alaska in upgrading its pipeline delivery systems.
