Laramie, WY – Sen. Mike Enzi says he's interested in the Senate Finance Committee seat held by Sen. Trent Lott, who is planning to resign in January.
Enzi spokeswoman Elly Pickett says Enzi has wanted to be on the committee ever since he was elected to the Senate. Currently Enzi is the top Republican on the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee.
Pickett says that committee handles issues that overlap with the Finance Committee.
Who will replace Lott on the committee will be decided by Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. McConnell's office is not saying when that decision might be made or who is being considered.
