Cheyenne, Wy – The state School Facilities Commission and
the Cheyenne school district still don't see eye-to-eye on the cost
of building a third high school in Cheyenne.
Commission members said today (Thursday) that they still doubt
that Laramie County District One needs to spend 50 (M) million
dollars on Cheyenne South High School.
They say a more reasonable figure is 34 (M) million.
But Tom Rooney, the district's director of support operations,
doesn't think the building can be built for 34 (M) million. He says
every time the district presents evidence in favor of the
district's cost estimate, the commission disagrees.
Commission Director "Bubba" Shivler said it might be better
for the commission to hire architects for designing schools rather
than leaving that to school districts.
