Fire Fighters Make Progress on Bone Creek Fire

Laramie, WY – It was a good day for firefighters battling the Bone Creek Fire in northern Wyoming.

Cooler weather is helping tame the wildfire, and U.S. 14 has been reopened over the Bighorn Mountains. But motorists traveling the road are urged to use caution because of workers, firefighters and debris on the roadway.

Officials say the fire was limited to mostly smoldering today (Friday). It is about 25 percent contained.

And the forecast is for a chance of snow over the weekend. The road from Shell to Burgess Junction reopened just after 8 a.m.

The Bone Creek Fire flared up Wednesday and grew to 12,000 acres, nearly 19 square miles. Flames crossed the highway and the road was closed.
