Fire Management Officials Predict Fires Later This Summer

Cheyenne, Wy – Despite the wet weather, state fire officials say this summer could still be a dangerous fire season. State Forester Bill Crapser says the wet spring weather has encouraged some growing so regional officials says that could lead to fires later this summer when grass and trees dry out. Crapser says most mountain areas should see an average fire season. However, Medicine Bow National forest officials fear that the Bark Beetle outbreak in their part of the state could make fires in the snowy range mountains more severe.
