First library meets matching milestone

Laramie, WY – The Albany County Public Library is the first in the state to meet the Wyoming Public Library Endowment Fund Challenge.
The library in Laramie has raised more than $100,000 that will be matched 3-to-1 by the state of Wyoming.
Gov. Dave Freudenthal in March 2008 set aside $9.1 million to be allocated to Wyoming's 23 county library systems through local library foundations.
The foundations were required to raise money that would be matched at various levels based on need.
The executive director of the library's Foundation says most donations to the library ranged from pennies in a donation jar to one of $5,000. He says most donations were in the $80 to $100 range.
