Forest Service Office Might Move Out of Jackson
Laramie, WY – The U.S. Forest Service is proposing to
move its supervisor's office out of Jackson because of high housing costs.
The plan is raising concern from community leaders and from other government agencies that work closely with the Forest
The proposal would relocate 45 full-time Bridger-Teton employees to Alpine, about 35 miles southwest of Jackson.
The regional forester for the agency's Intermountain Region is expected to make a decision on the move by October 1st.
Officials also are considering sites in Afton and Pinedale, where the agency already has smaller ranger district offices.
